Review: Hellraiser Deader
(2005)

This time I got yet another Hellraiser film from Dimension’s
notorious steaight to video era…
The cenobites are back and they're bringing an army of the
dead to create hell on earth. After viewing a mysterious videotape showcasing a
shocking act of death and resurrection, undercover reporter Amy Klein soon
learns of an underground group who possesses the power to restore life to the
dead. Soon deeply entangled in the group's malevolent experiments with the
afterlife, Amy finds herself caught in a life-or-death struggle that threatens
to tear her soul apart.
·
This film was not supposed to be a Hellraiser
film and you can tell as the synopsis Above clearly shows. The cenbytes and
Pinhead are just thrown into the film. There is clearly no real connective Material
between the HellraIser elements and the original Deader material. So, the film
is a confusing mess that doesn’t work with the Hellraiser mythos.
·
Keri Whulur, who plays the journalist in this
film does the best she caan with the confusing material and actual puts out a
decent performance.
·
If it wasn’t for Dimension playing games in
order to do a money hall, instead of respecting any of the material, Deader
might have turned out to be a good thrilller, but instead it is a mess that
stands out on the Hellraiser franchise and doesn’t please any film
watcher.
·
My suggestion is just avoid this film if you are looking for a
Hellraiser film because it really isn’t. If you want a true Hellraiser experience,
then watch the first four films.
