House of the Witch (2017)

Review: House of the Witch (2017)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

A group of high-school kids set out to play a Halloween prank at an abandoned house, but once they enter they become victims of a demonic witch who has set her wrath upon them.

This film was a royal borefest for me. It was extremely predictable and wasn’t at all scary. Even the jump scares, or what was supposed to be jump scares didn’t impress me. Worst of all I exactly predicted the ending of the film. Sorry, but if you want to be bored out of your mind then watch this film, I bet you start dosing off half way through it. I started checking Facebook because this film couldn’t keep my interest. I don’t recommend this film. Avoid like the plague…

Review: Baphomet (2021)

Review: Baphomet (2021)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

For my next review I’m doing the Satanic cult film, Baphomet.

The Richardson family celebrates their 28-year-old daughter's pregnancy in Northern California. The celebration is interrupted when a Satanic cult member, Aksel Brandr, pays them an unexpected visit. Aksel, on behalf of the cult's leader Henrik Brandr, offers to pay the family a large sum for ownership of their land. Jacob Richardson, the father, rejects the offer due to the priceless sentimental value of their home. Henrik and his cult, displeased, begin to put devastating curses on the Richardsons, trying to force them off their land - even if it means murdering them. After suffering unexplainable tragedies, the Richardsons seek help from Marybeth, a white witch high priestess. They soon discover a terrible secret about their home, revealing why it is so valuable to the cult. They realize they must protect their property from the cult at all costs, and a violent battle between good and evil ensues.

Unfortunately this film suffers from a bad case of being unfinished and being tried to be fixed in editing. This fact is obvious because the ending is a mess. One of the main characters was actually brought back to life and his wife was told by the white witch that brought him back not to let anyone know he was alive, but tS ahen out of no where with no explanation he is helping the cops who suddenly appear and they know he has been resurrected. Then in another scene the white witch suddenly shows up and kills one of the Satanists that are attacking the family’s ranch. Also, almost immediately the Satanists have dug a hole and got in the secrets chamber where Satan’s son is sleeping, also not explained.

It's sad. This film had some good build up but because I guess the filmmaker ran out of money the ending was a butchered mess that tanked what had potential to be a good film.

So, with all this said I can’t recommend this film.

Review: The Haunting of Borley Rectory (2019)

The Haunting of Borley Rectory (2019)
By William Pattison
For Horror Bob's Blog

The story of Borley Rectory, which is said to be the most haunted building in the world before it was mysteriously destroyed by fire just before WWII.
But eight months before the fire a university paranormal research crew stayed at the rectory. This is the story of their six month search for proof of the supernatural.
First off I have to remind you that this is a hardcore British film production. Most of the actors in the cast are heavy duty theatre actors with that bland theatre actors style of acting. This film was done on a shoestring budget so the camera work and lighting reflects this. Also this film is horribly serious and not really scary. The main ghost, a rotton faced nun, just stands around and does nothing.
With all this said, I have to tell you that I less you’re spent at least a decade of being cultured in real British films you will be bored to death and will wonder why you didn’t shut the movie down after fifteen minutes. Thus, I cannot recommend this film, even though I thought it was ok. But that is just little old me. If you want to test yourself I suggest you fill a punchbowl with whiskey punch, have lots of edibles, and have an extra large Cheech and Chong doobie, then you might, and I do mean might, get thtough...

Review: The Hole (2009)

Review: The Hole (2009)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

For this next review I’ll be reviewing the 2009 horror film The Hole.

Susan and her sons Dane and Lucas Thompson move from Brooklyn to small town Benzonville. Dane is upset with the constant changes of address and the family has lived in many cities. Lucas and Dane befriend their next door neighbor, the gorgeous Julie and the brothers find a bottomless hole in the basement of their house locked with several padlocks. They take the locks off and soon they are haunted by their darkest fears. Further, they believe that the hole might be a gateway to hell.

I love kid centric supernatural films. Besides IT I really enjoy The Innocents and The Gate, though my associate Christopher Highland would have issue with the latter. The Gate royally freaks him out. In my opinion The Hole would be a perfect pairing with The Gate for a double feature night.

This film has a definite late 80s/ early 90s horror vibe to it. I love the fact that it uses the time honored plot device of using the characters fears against them. Also uses atmosphere and family dynamics to create a relatable chill. This is a time tested terror tale. And I  have to say this is an excellent production…and no CGI involved, which puts a smile on my face. I highly recommend this film if you want a solid goreless terror tale in the 80s style…

Bait (2025)

Bait (2025)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

For my next review I got a British monster in the basement film distributed by the people at UnCorked (AHhhhhhhh!). Well, let’s start the torture…I mean fun…

On their way to a family gathering, mother Angela, father Drew and their kids Lucas and Josie wake up in a dark, ominous basement after a car accident. Trapped with a ravenous creature, caged and hungry for human flesh, they must work together to find a way to escape with their lives. As the family struggles to survive, Angela's brother desperately searches for them, needing to identify their captor and uncover his dark past before it's too late.

Well, tight upper lip, after all this is an UnCorked production, which means micro budget and four days shoot.. oh boy! Still, once is a while they come up with something fair watchable.

This film doesn’t redesign the wheel.  The acting is good because it is British and British people are very anal about their acting. The production quality is a bit better than UnCorked is known for. The monster design is amusingly bad. The story is ok. It kind of reminds me of the tacky Metallic series from Liongate, but with a monster instead of a brain damaged guy in metal armor doing the killing. Still very tacky.

I guess I’ll  recommend this with a lot of drinking and cannabis, that is the only way to get through this piece of shit.

Bambi: The Reconning (2025)

Review: Bambi: The Reckoning (2025)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

Oh my fucking GOD, people!!! You better damn appreciate my sacrifice when it comes to this. I traumatized myself and eradicated my childhood by forcing myself to watch Bambi: The Reconning. It wasn’t enough that this group of complete bastard English filmmakers unusual for him to stay at the motel connected to the dance club who would rent a motelhave taken our childhood Disney cartoons and warped them in slasher and monster films. For fuck’s sake Disney itself is already torturing us with their fucked up WOKE bullshit “live action” remakes. Jesus fucking Christ…(Bile) Well, let’s  start the torture…They got such sights to show you…

After a mother and son are involved in a car accident, they become the targets of a terrifying hunt. Traumatized by the loss of his own mother, Bambi undergoes a horrifying transformation, becoming a mutated and vengeful creature. Driven by grief and rage, he seeks revenge on the surviving mother and son, leading to a deadly game of survival in the woods. This dark and twisted retelling explores themes of grief, revenge, and the dangers of nature.

I have to admit Bambi was the most entertaining, twisted, and well made installment in this completely fucked up subgenre. The story is actually a well written parable or rage, pain, and the evils that business men do. The acting is the best I’ve  seen so far in one of these blockbuster (NOT) films. The CGI demonic deer in this film is the best part of it next to Thumper and the other CGI bunnies. This kills are brutal and well executed. I actually both laughed and cringed in a couple of places.

If you choose to watch this film I highly recommend you watch the four part remake of Bambi VS Godzilla shorts to set yourself up for this film. Bambi is a nasty customer and he can put Rambo to shame if you cross him. Just saying.

I can’t  believe I’m  saying this, but I highly recommend this fucked up film, just not for the little ones. Let them have their childhood because these greedy fucks try to destroy it with a happy smirk on their faces. Bastards!!!!

The Painted (2024)

Review: The Painted (2024)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

When Evelyn Elster inherits her estranged cousin's fortune she thinks her family has finally gotten the break they've needed. Little do they know they've not only inherited her cousin's riches, but also a family curse, and must do whatever they can to avoid becoming its latest victims.

I must say I have an real affection for haunted paintings/ haunted photograph films. I love every adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray. As well my favorite of the Dark Shadows films is actually Night of Dark Shadows, which deals with the witch Angelique being resurrect through her portrait. The last ten years the haunted portrait films have come back with films like the newest adaptation of Dorian Gray, Dead Still, and this film The Painted.

This film is an excellent edition to this beloved subgenre. The mythology of the curse in this film is pure perfection. I know the screenwriter must have been a fans of Night of Dark Shadows and The Innocents. The acting is excellent. The CGI animation on the paintings is creeping and expertly executed. All together this is an excellent demonic ghost story that I find awesometacular! If you want to enjoy this excellent film you can find it on Fawesome in the best horror movie list…and it is a well earned title…

Review:Deadly Descent aka YETI (2013)

Review: Deadly Descent: The Abominable Snowman aka YETI (2013)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

My next review is one of those amusing horror/adventure /Abominable Snowman movies.

When an ex-military climber  named Brian is found to be missing his friends go up into the mountains to try and find him and come face to face with the deadly creature Brian was searching for. They manage to escape the creature and find shelter in an abandoned lodge. They find Brian there and find out he was trying to trap and kill the creature because it killed his father. Then, of course, to add spice to the situation they find out there are two creatures. Now Brian and his friends must fight for their lives again these primal forces. Will they survive?

Unfortunately, this film suffers from the same defects as 98 percent of the film in this subgenre. This film has bad writing as well as bad acting. For Christ’s sake, Adrian Paul has to do this ridiculous American accent!!! All the characters  are supposed to be ex-military yet all they do is argue with each other and make stupid mistakes. And, if all that wasn’t  enough, then there is the most horrifying, not scary at all, part of the film, the creatures. These things don’t  look anything like Yetis. They look like horribly CGIed Gorillas/ bears. This is royally bad. It makes Sharknado look good .

So, with all this said, if you want a good snow creature laughfest, I’ll recommend it…only thing is you’ll need to down two bottles of whiskey and a large Cheech and Chong Doobie to get through this mess. I suggest you save yourself the hangover and watch Abominable instead.

Alma and the Wolf (2025)

Alma and the Wolf (2025)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

My next review is on the heavily psychological horror art house film Alma and the Wolf.

Set on the Oregon coast, troubled police officer Ren Accord investigates a mysterious wolf attack. Matters escalate when his estranged son vanishes during the case.

Ren starts having disturbing visions of a demonic white dogman and rams and it all leads to the horrifying conclusion.

This was definitely a film I  will put on my freaky list. It goes from a sheriff deputy finding a bloody woman on the road to a complete acid nightmare. The dogman and ram people are brilliantly created. The plot and performance were well done. All I can say is if you enjoy your horror with a heavy psychological edge you will enjoy this film. I highly recommend it

Mouseboat Massacre 2025

Mouseboat Massacre (2025)
By William Pattison
For Horror Bob's Blog

For my next review I'm doing the 2025 cartoon character slasher film.
The story follows a young woman battling a drug addiction who suddenly begins to see a mutated mouse human hybrid who infests her life. Those around her begin to drop like flies.
This film is unfortunately part of the tread where horror filmmakers take famous IP cartoon characters that have hit public domain and turn them into slashers. This started with Winney the Poe Blood and Honey and the trend went nuts. All of a sudden we have the Grinch killing people and Peter Pan. Shit, there is an upcoming Bambi'Revenge film about a demonic deer killing people. In regard to Mickey Mouse this is the second slasher film featuring a killer wearing a mask of the Disney icon.
This English film is no work of art. It steals a bit from The Ring. In this film the Mickey killer is manifested when you play a freaky cartoon, which is a twisted version of Steamboat Willy. This killer actually does have his own boat. The acting is over the top. The plot is stereotype supernatural slasher with next to nothing relating to Mickey Mouse except the mask.
For me it wasn't that entertaining. Also I would definitely not show this to children unless you like spending money on therapy. As far as this film goes I cannot recommend it, except if you are in the minority who actually likes this dreck.

Fire City: End of Days (2015)

Review: Fire City: End of Days (2015)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

Vine, a disillusioned demon, secretly lives with others of his kind in the world of humans sustained by their misery. Forced into a choice to save his brethren or an innocent human girl, the delicate balance between human and demon kind is threatened, which may result in war.

I’m usually not a fan of film distributed by UnCorked. They are usually low budget, badly acted, and badly made crap. This film is a diamond in a sea of crap.

This film has an interesting concept, of a city where demons and humans live together, the demons feeling on the human suffering on the streets.

The acting in this film is far better than than your usual UnCorked maturefest. The makeup work on the demons really work, though most of the artistry is lost by the fact that this film is shit in low light with color filters. Still the action and the gritty plot saves the day and brings some entertainment into the mix, which is a miracle for UnCorked. But that is just my opinion.

All in all I’ll  give this film a 3.5 out of 5 on the Oogie Boogie scale, thus I can recommend it.

The Beast of Walton St (2023)

The Beast of Walton St. (2023)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

Our next review is the low budget arthouse werewolf film, The Beast of Walton St.

As the homeless population of an Ohio town is ravaged by brutal deaths in the dead of winter, two outcast women defend their turf and fight back against the deadly creature - a werewolf.

I loved this film. The filmmaker used his budget well. The script was well written and had great characterization, which is a plus when you don’t have a ton of money. The werewolf was outstanding. It had an American Werewolf in London vibe. It was shown in little bites, mind the pun, which actually worked well. Also the girls playing the leads worked well with each other and felt like close buddies.

All in all I say it would be a serious mistake to overlook this film. I say it is actually awesometacular and a must see for low budget arthouse afficianados.

Review: Automata (2014)

Automata (2014)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

This time I’m reviewing the science fiction film, Automata.

2044. The climate change and a series of solar storms have turned in a desert the surface of the planet and annihilated to the 99.7 % of Earth's population, leaving alive 21 million people across the world in a single city covered by mechanical clouds (zeppelins anchored to the city) to make rain. Trying to rebuild the world again, a robot company named ROC Corporation create Automata Pilgrim 7000 with two security protocols: 1st, a robot cannot harm human beings, and 2nd, a robot cannot alter itself or another robot. But this situation changes when police officer Sean Wallace shoots and destroys a robot claiming that it was altering itself. With the company worried by the possible implications if the case were known by the people, insurance agent Jacq Vaucan is chosen to investigate the happened, while Vaucan tries to convince his boss, friend and brother-in-law Robert Bold to transfer him and his pregnant wife Rachel to the coast, with Bold accepting the request if Vaucan solves the case. Going with Wallace to a brothel, they meets a robot in blue wig named Cleo, who is shot by Wallace in the belief that Cleo will be sent for repairs by mysterious repairperson that Vaucan calls The Clocksmith. However, Cleo is sent to mechanical workshop ran by  Dr. Susan Dupré, who informs Vaucan about a terrible possibility: that the robots can alter their second protocol themselves to acquire self awareness, implying a non-human intelligence that easily it should overpass the human brain after a test where she mixed a biocore from the Wallace's shot robot with Cleo's own biocore. Vaucan reports secretly to Bold about it, but ROC's chairman intercepts the message. When Dr. Dupré is killed in front of Vaucan by a ROC's squad group, amusingly a couple  of children, he and Cleo run from the assassins, ending outside the city, lost in the white desert that surrounds the city. Forced to meet ROC's chairman,  Bold  is informed about the secret of the two protocols: that the Pilgrim 7000's prototype was created without the protocols, and due to its unlimited intelligence and learning, it overcame to its human owners just eight days later. After all the next Pilgrims were created with the protocols to limit their capacity in order to have them under control. Fearing the extinction of human race if all the Pilgrims evolve beyond the protocols, ROC's chairman blames Vaucan of Dupré's assassination and the alteration of the robots to cover up to the public, and Wallace is hired to find Cleo and Vaucan and kill them.  Vaucan, Cleo, and three robots travel across the desert to the forbidden and radioactive zone to meet The Clocksmith. Arriving Vaucan finds himself  witness to something that would change the world.

This film is pure science fiction. There are no ray guns or spaceships. It is a morality tale that deals with humanity and how it deals with technology and a non-human intelligence. It is more akin to the Robot Chronicles that were written my Doctor Issac Asimov. The robots in this film have firm rules about how they deal with humans, it is the humans in the film that show their inhumanity when it comes to the robots and their fellow humans.

This film feature a royally distopian vision of the future. It also features excellent performance s. Also the robot designs look perfectly industrial.

All in all this is an outstanding sci fi film that will resinate will true sci Fi fans, but I don’t  know about casual film audiences. So, though I found this film awesometacular it won’t  be a film for the kiddies or the uninitiated in serious science fiction. I guess that is why I just happened to discover this film on Tubi TV.

Review: Devil in the Dark (2017)

Review: Devil in the Dark (2017)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

In Washington State, Adam visits his estranged brother Clint to reconnect their relationship after fifteen years apart from each other. Clint has always been the favorite of their father Glen and Adam feels grief and sorrow. The plan to go in a hunting party along the weekend to hunt deer and supersede their problems. When they stumble upon a cave surrounded by deer antlers, they flee from the spot. But they are chased and stalked by a supernatural creature. Will they escape alive from the being?

This was a film that had the potential of being a half way decent horror film, but unfortunately for some reason it was wasted. It had good atmosphere, characters, performances, and a kick assed creature design. But from what I can tell during production they lost funding and had to discontinue filming with the film only two thirds done. Then, they had to try and salvage the film in the editing room. The resulting film is a mess with obvious missing scenes and even subplots. It leaves the viewer scratching their head. The very ending of the film actually even cuts off unexpectedly and is horribly jarring. Seriously this film is a waste of time in its present form, thus I cannot recommend it.

Review: I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)

Review: I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they're forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer...and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.

This is an excellent new installment in the franchise, even though it was made out like it is a reboot. This one is worlds better than the straight to video third installment. I loved all the references to the first film. I also was blown away with how they included Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character. This was truly a superior sequel.

The only thing I wasn’t thrilled with was the very end of the film. I felt they had too much after the actual story was satisfactory concluded. Thus, I give this film a B rating rather than an A because the studio had to give us an extra few scene to reinforce “The Message.” But still I will recommend this film.

Review: Wer(2013)

Review: Wer (2013)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

In France, the Porter family is slaughtered while camping in the woods, and only Claire Porter survives, seriously wounded. She reports that her husband Henry and her son Peter have been eaten alive by a strong man. Talan Gwynek, an Eremite who lives in the woods with his mother, is accused of the murders and arrested. Defense attorney Kate Moore is assigned to defend him, and she comes to the police station with her investigator Eric Sarin and animal expert Gavin Flemyng to interview Talan. Unwilling police inspector Klaus Pistor is sure that Talan is the murderer but must let Kate and her team work. There is turmoil in the precinct and Talan scratches Gavin. Then they visit Talan's mother and learn that Talan has a rare disease. Further, the government wants her lands to dispose nuclear waste and her husband has recently died in a car accident. Soon Eric discloses that Mr. Gwynek's death was suspicious and Pistor was in charge of the investigation. When Kate succeeds in sending Talan to a hospital for examination, she discovers the effects of Talan's disease and that he is in fact something primal and near indestructible.

The first thing I have to say is this film has found an amazingly original take on its subject matter, I won’t  say what exactly the subject is but I think you can guess by the title. The writing on this film is great. The story starts out like a legal drama dealing with the subject of canibalism but then this story alters into a brutal horror story and is full of gore and action. The acting is outstanding. The actor that plays Talan is both disturbing and sympathetic at the same time. The style of this film works great. The filmmaker even had sections that had a near documentary feel.

All and all all I can say if you want a film they puts you through your paces, like Barbarian, this is the film for you. You won’t  be disappointed. It is awesomtacular!!!

Dark Was the Night (2014)

Dark Was the Night (2014)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

This time I’m reviewing the 2014 thriller, Dark Was the Night.

A mysterious force hidden within the trees outside the small town of Maiden Woods, strikes fear in the townspeople as Sheriff Paul Shields attempts to overcome the demons of his past while protecting those that he loves.

This is a wonderfully atmospheric film. The performances are excellent, especially that of Kevin Durand who plays the sheriff. It is light on the gore, but it isn’t missed because you are locked into the mystery the sheriff is trying to solve. I love that it is inspired by the case of The Devil’s Footprints.

To put it simply this is the type of horror film I cherish because it keeps my attention and doesn’t disappoint in the end. I highly recommend it because to me it is awesomeyacular!!

Review: Forbidden Empire (2014)

Forbidden Empire (2014)

By  William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

Forbidden Empire tell the story of how in the early 18th century Cartographer Jonathan Green undertakes a scientific voyage from Europe to the East. Having passed through Transylvania and crossed the Carpathian Mountains, he finds himself in a small village lost in impassible woods. Nothing but chance and heavy fog could bring him to this cursed place. People who live here do not resemble any other people which the traveler saw before that. The villagers, having dug a deep moat to fend themselves from the rest of the world, share a naive belief that they could save themselves from evil, failing to understand that evil has made its nest in their souls and is waiting for an opportunity to gush out upon the world.

This is a completely weird and wonder fantasy adventure. There are scenes in this film that had to have been inspired by acid trips. It is a mix of way out fantasy with a surprising hint of steam punk. This film caught me by surprised and just kept hitting me. This film made Pirates of the Caribbean look boring and normal. This is a film that would make a good double feature with The Adventures of Baron Munchausen or The Brothers Grim.

This is a film I can highly recommend, it is a gift for people looking for some outrageous adventure.

Review: Bring Her Back (2025)

Review: Bring Her Back (2025)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

Bring Her Back tells the story of Andy and his step sister Piper who, after the death of their father further strengthens their bond and find themselves hastily placed into the foster care system. Andy is not yet of legal age to apply for guardianship; he must wait three long months before he and Piper are able to move into their new place. Until then Andy must behave himself as Laura, an empathetic foster mom, who is coping with silent grief, offers to adopt them both into her secluded home in the woods. However, there is something off about the artificially benevolent guardian. There is a third child at the residence that is off and acts with self abusive violence. It becomes evident that without a doubt, Laura wants something so bad she can taste it. The problem is, she must never bend the rules or break the circle. But just how far is she willing to go to bring her daughter back from the dead?

This film is horrifyingly disturbing and plain gross, in an Evil Dead way. You end up really feeling for Andy and Piper who gets royally manipulated. The ending of this film is truly shocking.

If you are a true fan of gross, shocking, creepy, films this is the film for you. The only issue is this is an art house film, this it is a slow burn.

Review: Eyes of Walanda

Eyes of Wakanda (2025)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

Eyes of Wakanda is a four part animated anthology series  about Wakandan warriors who, throughout history, have traveled the world to retrieve dangerous vibranium artifacts.

I really enjoyed this series and found it a very worthy inclusion to the world of Black Panther. This series is beautifully animated and is well written. I loved the humor in this series which was far better than the tongue in cheek stuff you usually find in a Marvel production. My favorite story beside the final episode was the one dealing with the fall of Troy and Acilles. Marvel animation is hit and miss, but this is truly excellent and I highly recommend it..

Review:Osiris (2025)

Review: Osiris (2025)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

This time I'm reviewing the Sci Fi/ Action film Osiris. Osiris tells the story of Special Forces commandos are abducted mid-operation by a mysterious spacecraft and, upon awakening, find themselves prey to a relentless alien race in a fight for survival.

If you were looking for the next Impendence Day or Skyline, be prepared  to be royally disappointed. This film is a low budget action film with a bare bones plot and characters that are mostly there for target practice. It plays like a cheap shooter video game. Lots of blood and gore and zero story. The aliens are stereotypical videogame style creatures. Fx artist Todd Masters does what he can with what he’s stuck with and in the end it is not enough for this turd of a film Even having Linda Hamilton in the film didn’t  have any impact. In fact anyone could have played her part.

Obviously I cannot recommend this film unless you are drunk and smoking tons of pot. Then it would be a party!!!

Review: It Feeds

Review: It Feeds (2025)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

After a young girl bursts into their home psychiatry practice claiming an entity is feeding on her, Jordan and her clairvoyant mother must find a way to stop the force before the girl is taken completely.

His is a really scary film. This film had good atmosphere with all the half light and shadow work. The story kept me on my toes. I found the empathy gift very interesting and how the mother could see supernatural beings. The creature design was also excellent and they used it very well. The characters in the film worked well I loved the relationship between the mother and daughter. The father of the infected girl was very intimadating. The loopy former patient added some good humor.

All together this was a very creepy good time with plenty of good jump scares, which I have no problem with. I highly recommend this film if you want scary paranormal fun without the stereotypical possession storyline.

Review: It Waits

Review: It Waits (2005)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

"It Waits" is a suspenseful, horrifying tale of a Native American legend come to life. A creature trapped in the bowels of hell has been awoken and unleashed on the world. It prowls the wilderness, hunting a young, willful ranger named Danielle. Danielle is experiencing her own personal turmoil, having recently been responsible for the death of her best friend. Things go from bad to worse as Danielle realizes that she is not alone in the wilderness. There is a creature slowly stalking and hunting her. The creature claims the lives of the few people that may have been able to help Danielle, and all hope seems lost. She waits as the creature comes for her and desperately struggles for her life, but will her struggle be enough to ensure her survival?

This is a truly frightening tale in many ways like one of my favorite ghost films, 100 Feet but in a forest and with a monster. That actress that plays Dani does an excellent job getting the audience to connect to her and her crisis. This is a great film if you like action with your horror you will love this film. I highly recommend it.

Review Bone Face (2025)

Review: Bone Face (2025)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

When a masked killer slaughters several campers in a small town, a sheriff and a deputy track the murderer to a local diner where, using their investigative skills, they must discover which person in the diner is the actual killer.

Art house films are very iffy affairs. They are either really good or really bad. The film in question is outstanding. This film plays like an episode of The Twilight Zone. A diverse group of people are in a diner when two cops arrive and then the real fun begins as these two sheriff officers must go through the suspects in order to find the masked serial killer who has already massacred two other summer camps.

Director Michael Donovan Horn does a brilliant just with this horror thriller. This film is loaded with well developed characters and some good performances, especially the two cops. Also, though there isn’t  a real onscreen body count there is still enough gore for slasher fans as well. This is just a plain good time for both slasher and mystery fans. I can highly recommend this one.

If you want to see this film it is currently playing on Tubi TV…

Review: Night Wolf

Review: Night Wolf

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

Night Wolf is a U.K art house film about a group of twenty-somethings who are having a few drinks in a barn at Sarah's house which is in the countryside of England. They are all enjoying themselves until the power goes off due to the storm outside. So they venture in to the mansion which is in a state of repair and find themselves being tracked through the house by a werewolf. They are in a world of trouble as it corners them in the attic. How are they going to get out of there, and will they all survive the  hours until morning?

Well, for one thing this film is very art house. The action in this film are far more restrained. Though we do get to know these characters unfortunately we really don’t care about any of them. Our main character, Sarah, is pretty muchin the process of abandoning her family and friends. Her older brother is a self absorbed asshole and her younger brother is an overly needy weakling. Her friends are the typical social asshole…well, except for her friend that was played by Tom Felton of Harry Potter fame, who comes off more as a Jay from Jay and Silent Bob-like character. Also Tom is only in the film for ten minutes before he is butchered off screen. That is another issue I had with this film is pretty much all the kills are either off screen or done in lightening cuts to the point you can’t make out what is happening.

Also, and majorly this is a werewolf film where you don’t see the damned werewolf till the end. I mean no clawed hand, no wolf eye shot, not even a flash of a head. What you get is a shit load of red colored POVs. Then when the werewolf is finally revealed the fucking thing is hairless and bares an annoying resemblance at that horrid werewolf in that embarrassing 2025 Wolfman remake. I’m  not kidding you. I swear that the director of that film saw this film and thought, “God, that is an outstanding design. I want to use that in my film!!!” shit!!! Bile is forming.

So, in conclusion, I can honestly say I’ve seen hundreds of worse werewolf films in my time. I’ve also seen a lot of brilliant werewolf films. This is not one of those. But it can be said it is far better than Wolfman 2025. That is at least something. As for me I cannot recommend it.

Review: Late Phases: Night of the Lone Wolf

Review: Late Phases: Night of the Lone Wolf  (2014)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

Late Phases: Night of the Lone Wolf tells the story of Ambrose McKinley, a cantankerous blind vet, who moves into a retirement community only to learn the residents there have been dying, not from old age, but from dog attacks. After surviving his own encounter with the canine one night, Ambrose comes to believe the assailant is much more than a mere  dog and is in fact a werewolf...

This film is a fantastic art house horror film. It gave me hints of films like Bubba Hotel and Stephen King’s Silver Bullet.

The werewolves, yes I said wolves, in this film are ok and do their job. I think the design should have been a bit more reserved on the ears. Come on guys these are supposed to be werewolves not extra hairy werebunnies. Also, they go a bit light on holding to the lore during the final act.

Lead actor Nick Damici is brilliant as Ambrose. He is the heart of this film and pretty much carries the film on his shoulders.

All together this film ís a great time if you love monster flicks with quirky main characters. I highly recommend this film. It is a guilty pleasure and I want my DVD!

Review: Final Destination: Bloodline (2025)

Review: Final Destination: Bloodlines (2025)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

Final Destination Bloodline is the latest in this freaky franchise and tells the story of Stefani Reyes, a teenage girl has recurring nightmares of a tower collapse in the 1960s. She discovers that these nightmares are a premonition she inherited from her grandmother. The grandmother predicted the collapse of the building and saved a group of people from death. Decades later, the granddaughter begins to have visions of her family members dying. She realizes that there is a sequence and must fight to prevent Death from reclaiming her family's bloodline.

I have to say that this installment is my favorite, besides the original, of course. The kills in this film are a lot more subdued in comparison, but excuse me. This film focuses on the story, which is important since this installment is trying to explain the reason for the entire series itself, not an easy task.

Also, I need to mention that this is the final bow for actor Tony Todd and he goes out with class. A bit of trivia here…The director allowed Tony to improvise his final lines and leave the fans a final message. I have admit I teared.

This film is a rare thing in the horror franchise game, this film makes you jump and keeps your attention. Bravo to the filmmakers. I can really honestly recommend this film… and fans, bring the tissues because Tony is going to make you cry. Even you, muscle biker guy…

Review: The Windigo (2024)

The Windigo (2024)

By William Pattison

For Horror Bob’s Blog

The Windego is a story about an ancient Chippewa demon, the WINDIGO, that is resurrected by a Native American teenager and his grandmother to protect their family after a run-in with back-woods meth dealers. They soon discover that the creature's lust for killing cannot be controlled. As each killing bonds the teen and the Windigo ever closer, the family must find a way to break the curse before all of them become the blood-thirsty creature's next victims.

I was very excited when I found this film. Unfortunately, that excitement died a horrible death. I was looking for a film about The Windego, yes they even got the name of the creature wrong, not a low grade Pumpkin head ripoff. To make it that much torturous is both the writing and character performances were mind numbingly horrible. Brian Krause is both wasted and pretty much sleeps through his role as the sheriff whose only purpose in the story is to play the stereotype dissed and idiotic cop. The brother in the story, who calls on the Windigo, comes off as a spoiled, morose, city kid that comes to the country and hates everything that leads him into getting his ass kicked and nearly getting thrown in a well. His soft spoken sister has to save his wimp ass.

Anyway, his grandma, who is waiting for death, introduces him to the legend and even helps him to curse himself. Shit, the curse is exactly like Pumpkinhead right down to the kid seeing the killings through the demon’s eyes. They mess up the lor horribly and  mix it with smatterings of the skin walkers as well. The whole thing is a mess and was a slog for me to get through. Seriously, the film is 90 minutes and it felt never ending to me. I was so happy to see the end credits which was the best part of it.

So, all I can say if you are a Pumpkinhead fanatic… fuck, even one of those wouldn’t like this crap, and are looking for an experience that will burn your retinas check it out. For me I just want to hug my horror host skull, John, cover my head with a pillow suffocate myself until I can’t  remember this piece of shit…Movie!!!Ahhhhh!!!

Heart of Batman (2018)

Heart of Batman (2018)
By William Pattison for Horror Bob’s Blog
The Heart of Batman is a documentary that tells the incredible story of how Batman: The Animated series came into being.
When asked to make a Batman cartoon, animators Dini and Timm faced doubts about moving past the character's campy TV history. Their work resulted in "Batman: The Animated Series."
This documentary is fantastic and a tribute to the animated series and how it changed the face of an sub-genre, American Cartoons” and made it better than a bunch of funny and wacky kiddie fare. Much like my Camp Crystal Lake Novel series, this show paved the way for all the modern superhero animated shows that do justice to their comic counterparts and gave us the ultimate voices for both Batman and The Joker. This is a must see film for any superhero fan. I highly recommend it.

Predator: Killer of Killers

Predator: Killer of Killers (2025)

 By William Pattison

For Horror Bob's Blog

Predator: Killer of Killers is the newest film in The Predator franchise. This time 20th Century Fox Studios is giving us an animated anthology that spans centuries of human history.Three of the fiercest warriors in human history, a Viking warrior woman, a survivor of family rivalry in ancient Japan, and a Mexican American pilot in WW2, become prey to the ultimate killer of killer King Predator.

I have to say this is a fantastic concept for a predator film. Shit, you get to see a predator/human air battle. The animation in this film is fantastic. It was the first feature film to use the Unreal Engine. The backgrounds are stunning. It would have been way too expensive to do this film live action.

But be assured this film is bloody as hell. This is not a kiddy film. You get limbs and heads as well as a ton of body parts decorating the background. I can happily say this is the most violent predator film so far. I doubt the upcoming Predator: Badlands is even going to touch this.

If you are a Predator fan you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this one.
