Review: Dread (2009)
By William Pattison
For Horror Bob’s Blog
Three college students , Stephen, Cheryl, and Quad, set out
to make a thesis video for one of them about the effect of facing your greatest
fear and the dread it causes, but Quade, Stephen's friend, takes the study too
far, manipulating and torturing the other two as well as some of their already
damaged classmates, to mask the dread that results from his own fears.,
This is an excellent adaptation of the source story from
Clive Barker’s Books of Blood anthology book series, but what can you expect
because Clive wrote the screenplay.
It takes the
brutality of the source material and puts it in the face of the audience with
no holds barred.
Shaun Evens does an excellent job as the sadomassacististic
Quade. Hanne Sheen is also good as the
unfortunate Cheryl who ends up being Quade’s prime victim.
This film is prime splatter punk gold and I highly recommend
it.
